Interview with Jude Albert

By: Vickey Revanche

When was the first time you played football?

I was like six.

Why did you play?

My mom used to make me play.

When did you realize that football was going to be a big part of your life?

I don’t know, it kinda just hit me out of nowhere. Like, I have anger issues, and this is how I'm gonna take my anger out.

The night before the Thanksgiving game, what was going through your mind?

Last game ever. How I’m gonna go out how,and I’m gonna have a legacy here? I don’t care about what people think, how’s my family going to think of me, how’s this going to improve my highschool life. It’s my last game ever, only got one more game.

The second after we finish singing the National Anthem, what was your first thought? What was going through your mind?

Oh boy this is it.

Was there any conflict between you and the teammates on the Stoughton side?

Oh yeah there’s always beef, you know, that’s the arch rival you gotta respect (them), but at the same time you gotta hate them. That’s how you’ve gotta come in that’s what makes the tradition so special is the butting heads, the blood.

How do you feel now about Stoughton since that was your last time playing against them?

I think of all the excuses that I've heard over the years from the same kids that I actually know that play for that team. It felt so good. It felt like I gained some of their respect, but not only that, I felt that I was able to redeem all the bad stuff that happened over the years.

Describe how you felt when you first hit your opponent.

It was an energizing, good feeling.

After the game, did you feel relieved that the season was finally over for good?

It was mixed feelings. I'm obviously going to miss it, I don't know if I'm gonna be playing in the future I’m definitely relieved, my body feels relieved, but I’m definitely going to miss it. It was a big part of my life.

What do you want to say to the younger students playing football next year? Any advice for the Juniors when they play their last Thanksgiving game?

Just find a way to enjoy it, there’s going to be times where there’s the shoot, there’s going to be times where you're like what the hell am I doing, but youre going to realize ‘damn’ when its its done. Just be under control and you know just ball out, just one more game.
