Trump Refuses to Debate Sanders

By Kerry McGillicuddy

In a personal statement featured on his website, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump declines Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ offer to participate in a Fox News debate.  Trump deemed it “inappropriate” to take part in a debate with “the second place finisher”.

He also criticized television networks for looking to achieve high ratings, stating that “the networks want to make a killing on these events and are not proving to be too generous to charitable causes”.  Trump wished that the profits made from a debate with Sanders would be donated to charities for women’s health issues.

Sanders was looking forward to debating Trump as expressed in his statement made on Twitter: “I am delighted that @realDonaldTrump has agreed to debate.  Let’s do it in the biggest stadium possible.”

Trump emphasized the fact that although debating Sanders would be “an easy payday”, he does not wish to debate Sanders and instead will wait to debate Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton after she secures the nomination for her party.
